![]() Or, once, "Bless my soul, it's 'arry Potter!" Times change, but pinball is eternal.Ĭheck the website for hours, etc. ![]() Now the only reason I look at teenage boys is to think either "will you pull your fracking pants up?" or "if you go near my daughter, I will end you.". Which for me, might have been more entertaining than actually playing the game myself. There is also info about the fascinating - but for me, incomprehensible - physics of pinball, which makes its own kind of crazy sense.įor me, pinball evokes long, lazy afternoons at a lake resort - when it got too hot to fish, and the reflected light danced in our retinas, we'd retreat to the cool of the rec room and watch the handsome teenage boys slamming on the machines until their coins ran out. Most interesting is a machine without art, a clear glass case where you can see all the works. I really love the strange, cheesy art - both on the machines themselves, and the pinball-inspired art decking the walls. My husband particularly loves the Bally Fireball. That being said, and me being a middle-aged woman with ears blown out by too many U2 concerts, Pacific Pinball is a great place. I must confess I've never really understood games that give you a million points for hitting a thing against another thing - whether physically, like pinball, or virtually, as in video games. Kids are welcome (but parents are asked to keep them from running wild). I spent 2.5 hours and that wasn't enough time (for me). I went with my son on a weekend and, although there seemed to be lots of people there, I had no trouble finding an open machine to play. Plus some true antiques from the very early days of pinball (which are off-limits to play, but interesting to see as museum pieces none-the-less). One interesting display is a pinball machine where all the wood has been replaced with clear plastic so you can easily see all the inner workings. About 20+ "modern" machines, and about 40+ older ones. Two stopped while I was playing them, and they were fixed moments later. Remarkably, there was ONLY ONE that wasn't working properly. Even though I own over 40 pinball machines myself, I found plenty of ones I enjoyed playing. I'm a pinball collector, so this was a de rigueur visit for me. ![]()
